【New story started! Dual male leads, both teachers, secret relationship setting~】

【Main text begins】

On the eve of the Yuying High School teachers’ general assembly.

Two female teachers sat in the conference room waiting for the meeting to start, their faces partially hidden as they whispered to one another.

“Hey, have you heard? This year’s quota for the ‘Excellent Teacher’ assessment was given to Lu Zhengming from the Mathematics Department.”

“Ah? I remember Teacher Lin Yu from the Chinese Department did so much preparation for this spot, didn’t he? Why didn’t the Principal give it to him?”

Lin Yu, who was sitting not far away, acted as if he hadn’t heard the gossip happening right next to him. His expression remained calm as he replied to messages on his phone while waiting for the official start of the meeting.

Seeing that the person in question had no reaction, the female teachers grew even more spirited. Recalling some gossip they had heard from who-knows-where, one leaned closer to her colleague and whispered.

“I heard that Lu Zhengming has people in high places; his background is very influential…”

Hearing this, the colleague let out a long, knowing “Oh,” her expression shifting to one of sudden realization.

Lin Yu’s fingers paused mid-type. He pursed his lips, clicked the screen of his phone off with a “snap,” and flipped it face-down.

Seeing that Lin Yu’s expression didn’t look quite right, the female colleague looked embarrassed and lightly tugged the teacher beside her.

“Shhh, stop talking… Lu Zhengming is here!”

The teachers’ assembly was held in a spacious lecture hall where the aisles between each row were quite narrow.

Lu Zhengming walked casually over to the seat next to Lin Yu, a lazy smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He cast his gaze down carelessly.

“Make way for my legs.”

Lin Yu was sitting in the seat closest to the aisle. Hearing Lu Zhengming’s nearly provocative words, he didn’t change his posture, only tilting his head back to stare at him steadily.

Lu Zhengming saw that Lin Yu had no intention of pulling back his long legs. He thought of the rumors circulating through the school recently.

People said that for the sake of this Excellent Teacher assessment quota, the two of them had been fighting openly and covertly for two months, and their relationship was extremely poor.

Thinking of these interesting rumors, Lu Zhengming narrowed his eyes. The gaze he directed at Lin Yu became as invasive as if it were physical. He lowered his voice and spoke with a lazy, teasing drawl.

“Teacher Lin, you’re blocking my path.”

When Lin Yu heard this sentence, he set his phone aside.

The legs that had been resting properly in the aisle suddenly shifted into a straight stretch, completely blocking the gap that had been wide enough for one person to pass.

“There’s another aisle next to us. You can take the long way around.”

He had been sitting there perfectly fine, yet this person acted as if something were wrong with him, insisting that he retract his legs to make way.

Lu Zhengming arched an eyebrow. Watching Lin Yu’s action, the walking path was now thoroughly blocked.

The two female colleagues who had been whispering nearby stopped talking the moment Lu Zhengming and Lin Yu began interacting.

Their eyes were like torches, tensely watching the two protagonists at the center of the topic.

They speculated uneasily in their hearts: They aren’t going to start fighting right here, are they?

This is the teachers’ assembly hall!

Lu Zhengming gave a “Heh” and pressed his tongue against his cheek, seemingly looking for trouble: “I just have to walk this way.”

The warmth in Lin Yu’s eyes cooled down as he said word by word:

“I’m not moving.”

Seeing the atmosphere in the air getting colder and colder.

A male teacher from the same department wearing black-rimmed glasses couldn’t watch anymore. He chuckled a few times and stepped in to smooth things over.

“Teacher Lu, come this way! The path over here is spacious!”

The teacher in the black-rimmed glasses smiled and patted Lu Zhengming’s shoulder, half-pushing and half-pulling him toward the other aisle.

Lu Zhengming curled his lip, his gaze languid as if he didn’t take the matter to heart.

Once settled in his new seat, he calmly pulled a pen and a notebook from his pocket, lazily waiting for the meeting to begin.

Lin Yu lowered his gaze, staring at his phone. His pupils were deep as he returned to his quiet, indifferent self.

Seeing the atmosphere settle, the two female colleagues sitting between Lin Yu and Lu Zhengming breathed a sigh of relief.

It seemed the rumors were true.

Lu Zhengming from the Math Department and Lin Yu from the Chinese Department had a terrible relationship; they were at each other’s throats the moment they met.

The teachers’ meeting began, and Principal Fang of Yuying High School walked slowly toward the podium.

Principal Fang was fifty years old this year, slightly chubby, and his hair had turned into a “Mediterranean” bald spot due to work pressure.

He placed his teapot and cup on the podium and tapped the microphone, coughing twice.

“Ahem… The Yuying High School semester meeting officially begins now!”

“This semester, our school must fully implement the philosophy of being student-oriented, focus on students’ academic performance, and do a good job in the important ideological work of teaching and educating.”

Principal Fang’s high-sounding words made the teachers below struggle not to fall asleep.

However, Lin Yu sat bolt upright in his chair, his notebook already filled as he methodically listed the key points of the principal’s speech.

Lu Zhengming propped his chin on one hand and condescended to open the notebook in front of him. A black ink pen spun like a flower between his slender fingertips.

He seemed not to be listening at all to the rambling of the person on stage; he only wore a faint smile as he doodled on the blank paper.

In the time it took to speak a few sentences, a lifelike cartoon of a little cat listening to a lecture was completed.

The cartoon cat sat upright and still, with a solemn expression and the corners of its mouth drooping coldly.

Lu Zhengming stared at the pattern that closely resembled a certain someone, his eyes sparkling with faint traces of a smile.

On the podium, Principal Fang was still talking incessantly.

“…This semester, Teacher Lu Zhengming of the Mathematics Department has performed outstandingly in his teaching work. The school has decided to award the Excellent Teacher certificate of honor here!”

A continuous round of applause suddenly erupted from the audience.

Lu Zhengming was startled, snapping out of his prideful masterpiece.

Looking up and seeing Principal Fang’s encouraging eyes, he realized he should go to the stage now to receive the certificate.

He carelessly clicked his pen shut and, with his long legs, walked slowly toward the awards platform.

Principal Fang personally handed the certificate of honor into Lu Zhengming’s hands and smiled, “Teacher Lu, as a rising star of Yuying High School, the school has always been proud to have a teacher like you. Your future is promising!”

“Thank you for the Principal’s affirmation.”

Lu Zhengming gave a perfunctory thanks, ignoring the “big cake” the Principal was trying to paint for his future.

Whether the assessment was “excellent” or not, he didn’t care.

What he cared about was the opinion of a certain person.

As the heavy red certificate entered his hand, Lu Zhengming raised his narrow eyes and accurately found Lin Yu’s position among the dense crowd of teachers sitting below.

Lin Yu’s expression was very faint. After hearing his name called for the assessment, his movements hadn’t changed from beginning to end.

But he didn’t clap.

Among the crowd of teachers who were warmly clapping in celebration, he appeared particularly conspicuous.

Lu Zhengming raised an eyebrow, unable to gauge Lin Yu’s thoughts.

Was he… angry?

Seven o’clock in the evening.

Lin Yu finished grading the last stack of assignments in the office and rose from his chair.

Sitting at the workstation in the opposite office was the Chinese teacher from the same group who was working overtime with him, Zhou Xu.

Zhou Xu was a new teacher who had just passed his internship this year.

New teachers had a lot of work, so he often had to work overtime at school.

But the one he admired most was Lin Yu. In just three years of working, Lin Yu had reached the position of Grade Group Leader for the Chinese Department, and he stayed busy until very late every single day without fail.

“Brother Lin, you’re done?”

Zhou Xu had a lively personality and was young; he didn’t like calling his colleagues by the cold title of “Teacher.” He liked calling them “Brother” or “Sister,” which seemed friendly and narrowed the distance between them.

Lin Yu gave a faint smile and a hum of agreement, packing his things and preparing to head back.

Zhou Xu rubbed his sore shoulders from a busy day, stretched, and asked Lin Yu.

“Are you going back to the teachers’ apartments tonight?”

Lin Yu wasn’t a local, but he had settled in the Capital as part of the talent recruitment program, specifically living in the teachers’ apartments allocated by the school.

Zhou Xu came from the same background as Lin Yu and was essentially his roommate, so he asked casually.

Lin Yu’s hand packing his things paused. His gaze flickered as he looked away.

“Tonight… I have to go to my part-time job. I’ll be back a bit late.”

The words “part-time job” were spoken by Lin Yu lightly and quickly, clearly not wanting to mention it further.

Zhou Xu immediately gave a thumbs-up in admiration: “Brother Lin, I truly admire you. The teaching pressure is so heavy during the day, yet you still do a part-time job at night!”

In Zhou Xu’s eyes, Lin Yu had always been mysterious.

After finishing work at night, he would always head out for a fixed period of time.

If asked, he would say he was doing a part-time job, but as for what kind of job, Lin Yu wouldn’t mention a single word.

Lin Yu had lied to Zhou Xu and felt guilty in his heart, carrying his bag as he avoided eye contact.

“I’m leaving now.”

Zhou Xu waved his hand: “Okay, get back to the apartments early.”

The city lights were bright in the night.

Lin Yu sat in a taxi and gave the driver a location.

“West City Villas.”

He turned his head to watch the outside of the car window in silence, the neon lights flickering across his lean face.

The car drove into a quiet road surrounded by green trees, eventually stopping in front of a minimalist, detached small villa.

Lin Yu paid the fare, whispered his thanks, and got out, closing the door.

The night breeze brushed past his face with the coolness of early autumn, blowing the black stray hairs on his forehead.

Lin Yu walked to the front of the villa and extended his finger, pressing it against the fingerprint recognition lock.

With a “beep,” the door opened in response.

Lin Yu barely had time to push the door open a crack before his wrist was forcefully seized by a burning large hand and pulled inside.

In a whirlwind of movement, Lin Yu fell into a familiar, scorching embrace.

“Baby, I missed you to death. Quickly, let me kiss you…”
