Calling Him Teacher Lin by Day, Holding His Waist and Calling Him Baby by Night Chapter 3
Chapter 3: The Habit of Peeking at My Wife Needs Fixing
The next day, Mathematics Department office.
Lu Zhengming sat at his desk, propping his head with one hand while the other twirled a red pen, lazily grading assignments.
The little rascals in his class were lively; every time they handed in their math homework, the handwriting was wild and messy.
Lu Zhengming struggled to find the correct answers among the pile of “ghostly scribbles.”
Can’t read it, all marked wrong…
A bright red cross was bestowed upon the paper.
He rubbed his aching eyes and closed the chaotic notebook, deciding that what the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve over.
He picked up the water cup on his desk, intending to go to the pantry to pour some water.
On the way back, he passed by Lin Yu’s classroom; this period happened to be his Chinese class.
Between grading trash assignments and watching Lin Yu teach, Lu Zhengming decisively chose the latter.
To hesitate for even a second would be a sign of disrespect toward Lin Yu.
Holding his water cup, he approached the tightly closed back door of the classroom. He leaned languidly against the doorframe, peeking at Lin Yu teaching through the glass window of the back door.
Yuying was a top-tier private high school in the Capital; both he and Lin Yu taught high school students.
As the class teacher of Class 1 and their Chinese teacher, Lin Yu spent a long time in the classroom.
Lu Zhengming just quietly stared at Lin Yu as he taught.
Lin Yu had a tall and slender build, giving off a lean feeling. The chalk characters he wrote were just like the person himself: upright, clear, and elegant.
On the blackboard, the white chalk small-regular script was handsome and refined, writing out: “The bright moon halfway up the wall, the shadows of the osmanthus are dappled; the wind moves and the shadows shift, they are so elegant and lovely.”
Lu Zhengming’s gaze was fixed as if it were physical, staring in a daze.
Lovely, Lin Yu is truly lovely…
How could there be someone whose very handwriting was so beautiful.
If the handwriting on the assignments of those students in his class could be even half as good as Lin Yu’s, he wouldn’t be so frustrated that he couldn’t stand to look at them and had to come out for water to catch his breath.
Everyone said the students of Class 1 had the most pleasing handwriting; with such a teacher teaching them, how could they be bad?
Lu Zhengming sighed with regret in his heart; he really should have Lin Yu teach Chinese for his class as well.
The classroom was very quiet, with only the “shua shua” sound of writing and the clear, gentle sound of Lin Yu’s lecture.
Lin Yu’s speaking voice was very pleasant, giving off a sense of calm and gentle refinement.
The clear voice entered his ears like jade. The corners of Lu Zhengming’s mouth curled into an arc, and his pupils unconsciously deepened.
Such a voice would sound even better if it were coming from his bed.
Every student was listening intently, bowing their heads from time to time to take notes.
Two girls sitting in the very last row of Class 1 discovered Lu Zhengming standing at the back door.
The girl with the ponytail poked her deskmate with a pen and whispered: “Hey, Teacher Lu from Class 2 is here to eavesdrop on Teacher Lin’s lecture again.”
The deskmate quickly stole a glance out of the corner of her eye and whispered back to the girl with the ponytail.
“In my opinion, Teacher Lu is here to scout the enemy! Last semester, Class 2’s final average score was three points higher than our class.”
It was these three points that had caused Lin Yu to nag about them in class for an entire month.
The ponytail girl’s gaze immediately became indignant, “I knew Teacher Lu had no good intentions, he wants to steal our Teacher Lin’s teaching content!”
Their Class 1 and Class 2 were constantly vying for the position of the top of the grade.
Every small test, monthly exam, midterm, and final exam for the two classes had to be taken out and compared.
The two classes were like fire and water, competing neck and neck.
At the thought of losing to the neighboring class last semester, the ponytail girl pouted unhappily and secretly glared at Lu Zhengming.
Even if the neighboring teacher was handsome, it wouldn’t do; anyone who hindered their class from getting first place was her enemy!
Lu Zhengming was inexplicably glared at. He quirked an eyebrow and let out a soft laugh.
The hot water poured into the cup in his hand had long since turned cold.
Lu Zhengming realized that he had been standing at the back door for too long.
He twitched the corner of his mouth and shook his head; this habit of peeking at Lin Yu needed to be fixed.
Always going to the neighboring class to peek wasn’t a solution either…
Returning to the office, a teacher from the same group knocked on the door.
“Teacher Lu, the Principal is looking for you.”
Lu Zhengming’s movements paused. He set down the water cup that had been cold for a long time and gave a careless reply.
“Got it.”
The Principal’s office of Yuying High School was on the third floor, possessing an independent office space.
Lu Zhengming casually raised his hand and knocked twice. Without waiting for the person inside to respond, he opened the door and walked in.
“Principal, you were looking for me?”
His mouth spoke polite words and used respectful titles, but his actions couldn’t be considered polite.
Without waiting for the Principal to answer, he pulled out the chair in front of the desk on his own and sat there boldly, leaning against the back of the chair as if he had no proper form.
Principal Fang was not surprised by Lu Zhengming’s lazy posture.
The other’s family had an educational background, and when he first came to Yuying to be a teacher, word had been sent from above.
But at the thought of the moment three years ago when he received Lu Zhengming’s application scores, which were high across the board, Principal Fang had fallen into a rare, long silence.
Actually… with such high written and interview scores, even without a special greeting, he would have been able to get a spot.
Among the same batch of applicants, his score was almost at a level of its own.
Only Lin Yu, who had also applied for the school at the same time, could be compared to him.
At the thought of having absorbed these two talented young men who were first and second in scores into Yuying High School, the wrinkles on Principal Fang’s face smoothed out with a smile.
He handed over a research topic application form from his drawer, his smile amiable and kind as he called out:
“Zhengming, the school is recently launching a city-level project. I’ve put your name down as a member of the research group. Fill out this form; it will be helpful for your professional title assessment in the future.”
Lu Zhengming lowered his head, his gaze falling on that thin sheet of white paper, but he did not take it.
After a long while, he let out a light laugh: “Heh… Principal Fang, I wonder how the selection criteria for research group members were evaluated?”
He had never had the intention of launching research topics or seeking professional title assessments. Just like the selection for the Excellent Teacher title, people were always taking the initiative on his behalf.
Principal Fang gave Lu Zhengming a reproachful look.
“Naturally, it was a comprehensive consideration by the school leadership. Your teaching work is serious, and your class’s performance is outstanding. The name for the research group member belongs to no one but you.”
The smile at the corners of Lu Zhengming’s mouth suddenly faded. He lightly raised his eyes, his gaze appearing like a smile yet not quite one.
“Uncle Fang, is this my father’s idea?”
The address suddenly changed from “Principal Fang” to “Uncle Fang,” and Lu Zhengming’s words carried an obvious irony.
His father was a leader in the Capital’s education circle, and the family had been in education for three generations, possessing inexhaustible resources in this circle.
Adding a name to a city-level project’s research group was an easy task.
To say his father hadn’t intervened in this, Lu Zhengming wouldn’t believe Principal Fang would give this spot to him.
On the surface, Principal Fang laughed and avoided the question, not giving a direct answer to Lu Zhengming’s query.
“Zhengming, you also need to plan for your own future. You’ve been at Yuying for three years now. If you don’t participate in competitions or research projects, you shouldn’t waste your talent!”
He was good friends with Lu Zhengming’s father. Father Lu always said his son had a clever head but lacked an ambitious heart.
He hoped he could be urged more in school.
Principal Fang had initially thought the other was being modest, but in these three years, there hadn’t been a single project or competition that Lu Zhengming had voluntarily applied for.
Lin Yu, who had entered in the same year, had already accumulated countless honors and certificates over these three years.
This made Principal Fang feel anxious on his behalf.
This child, how could he be so unmotivated!
