Kill The Marriage Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Neighbor

Over the weekend, Ren and Zhang went together to visit Shang Liwei’s house.

Aside from wanting to thank her for always helping maintain the house, they also wanted to use the opportunity to consult about the greater omentum embryo implantation technology.

To be honest, Ren Zhong still didn’t quite believe that a male Alpha would truly be willing to get pregnant and give birth.

He desperately wanted to know whether the other party was just talking a big game, or if he had genuinely given such a promise after careful consideration.

However…

Zhang Qingyuan looked like he couldn’t possibly be more sincere.

In his left hand, he carried a gift bag stuffed to the brim with snacks, pastries, and red wine; in his right, he held a cake box wrapped in ribbon, looking for all the world like a delivery driver who had accepted seven or eight orders in one breath.

Isn’t this a bit too much sincerity? Ren Zhong grumbled inwardly.

He casually asked, “Where did you buy this purple cake?”

“You mean this sea salt cheese foam taro paste boba lava cake?” Zhang Qingyuan’s smile carried a hint of pride. “I made it myself.”

Ren Zhong: “?”

“What sea, what paste? You made it yourself?!” Ren Zhong’s brain had received too much bizarre information in too short a time, temporarily stalling its gears.

Zhang Qingyuan lifted his eyes, scanning Ren Zhong in the wheelchair from head to toe, and came to a sudden realization. “Ah, right. Assuming all Omegas love sweets is also a stereotype.”

“…Yeah, I really don’t like eating sweet things.” Ren Zhong nodded.

The conversation came to a screeching halt, and the air suddenly grew quiet.

Fortunately, Zhang Qingyuan promptly initiated a new topic, preventing the two from continuing to stare awkwardly at each other.

He asked, “Captain, what kind of person is Teacher Shang?”

Ren Zhong lowered his head in thought and said, “She’s an ‘eccentric’, I suppose. She’s capable of doing many whimsical and utterly unbelievable things.”

“How miraculous?” Zhang Qingyuan pressed. “Can you be more specific?”

The bizarre anecdotes surrounding this woman, Shang Liwei, were like an old sow wearing a bra—one ridiculous set after another.

Ren Zhong picked out an incident that best exemplified her personal traits and recounted it to Zhang Qingyuan.

“She got separated from her biological parents when she was young and ended up in an orphanage. After being legally adopted by her foster parents, she lived a very happy life. After being admitted to the gifted youth program at a top-tier university, she reunited with her biological parents, but they had already legally adopted another Alpha girl.”

Zhang Qingyuan let out an “Oh.” “I’ve seen this episode before; a romance novel trope shining into reality. How did she win the catfight?”

“She won, but there was no catfight. It was a win-win.”

Shang Liwei invited her biological parents’ adopted daughter out for a private meal. At the dining table, she dug into the food without a care for her image, stating her stance clearly while she ate.

“Don’t worry, I’m absolutely not here to fight you for Mom and Dad.”

“We’ve been separated for so many years; that tiny bit of blood relation really holds no weight compared to the grace of being raised. You don’t need to worry that my appearance will affect their love for you. I’m definitely closer to my foster parents, and the couple who raised you definitely loves you more, too.”

“I just want them to sponsor a little bit of my tuition for studying abroad. Look at your family’s background—that small amount of money won’t affect your life at all. I just want money; I’m not stealing your mom.”

“Besides, think about it. If you use a little bit of money to send me packing abroad, I won’t appear in front of them for the next few years. Then won’t you be the only one in their eyes?”

The adopted daughter was also a pragmatic Alpha who quickly reached a consensus with Shang Liwei.

They entered the treacherous banquet as enemies and left to hit the nightclub as sisters.

Just like that, Shang Liwei and her biological parents’ adopted daughter became closer than blood sisters, living a blissful life doted on by four parents.

And in the next second, this miraculous Alpha woman, who had garnered the love of thousands, opened the door to welcome them.

Ding-dong!

An unfamiliar Omega woman appeared behind the door.

“You must be Sister Liwei’s friends, right? Please come in!”

This Omega woman looked incredibly gentle and soft, radiating a warm, tender aura, looking as if the words “virtuous wife and loving mother” were embroidered directly onto her clothes.

The woman fetched two pairs of nice men’s slippers for them, then turned back toward the house. “Sister Liwei, could you come help lift the guest’s wheelchair?”

“I’ll help too!” A childish voice accompanied the pat-pat-pat of approaching footsteps.

A little kid wearing a princess dress, with pearls and flowers braided into her hair, ran to the door. Upon seeing the cake box in Zhang Qingyuan’s hand, she let out a shriek of pleasant surprise.

“Ah! It’s a sea salt cheese foam taro paste boba lava cake!”

To Ren Zhong’s ears, this childish voice was like a fairy-tale witch’s curse, directly sealing him to his wheelchair.

Where did this brat come from?

Only then did Shang Liwei finally saunter over. She wrapped an arm around the Omega woman’s waist, patted the brat’s head, and revealed the blissful smile reserved for winners in life.

“Zhongzhong, let me introduce you. This is my wife, Mi Tong, and this is my daughter, Mi Li.” She swayed side-to-side with her Omega and the brat, singing an auspicious tune, “We three are a happy, joyful family.”

Ren Zhong: “…”

He strongly suspected this was a prank Shang Liwei had prepared to celebrate his hospital discharge. This was absolutely something she was capable of doing.

“Where did you put the hidden camera? Turn it off.”

Ren Zhong remained expressionless; since he already knew it was a prank, he couldn’t be bothered to act surprised.

“Oh, come on, I’m not messing with you.” Shang Liwei beckoned Zhang Qingyuan to help lift Ren Zhong and his electric wheelchair over the threshold. “You barked first, I barked later. You bark, I bark, everybody barks. From now on, we are all married people.”

Saying this, she presented her marriage certificate to the two men.

The date of the marriage was the exact day after Ren Zhong had been discharged and sent home.

Ren Zhong felt he had never been this speechless in his entire life.

“Hello, Teacher Shang, I am Zhang Qingyuan. Just a small token of my regard, please accept it.”

“Oh my, you’re too polite! It’s enough that you came, why bring things? No need to be so polite!”

The brat in the princess dress hugged the cake box, singing “Let it go, let it go!” as she twirled away.

Beside him, the atmosphere was one of harmonious joy, with both hosts and guests delighted.

Only Ren Zhong was left questioning his life.

Shang Liwei’s Omega wife helped wipe the wheels of the petrified Ren Zhong’s wheelchair, then pushed him into the dining room.

“Come, come, come. Coincidentally, all four of us adults are newlyweds, let’s have a toast, have a toast! This time, let’s say ‘Happy Newlyweds’. One, two…”

“Happy Newlyweds!”

Everyone clinked their glasses together.

Only the still-recovering Ren Zhong and the child were drinking milk.

And only Ren Zhong alone had a dark expression on his face.

“Oh, ignore him! He’s just ‘allergic’ to kids.” Shang Liwei pulled out her phone. “Let me show you guys. One year during a flood, he went to help with disaster relief and had to carry children out of an orphanage. He was so incredibly nervous that he actually made the news.”

With curiosity in his eyes, Zhang Qingyuan looked at the screen and immediately burst into a pfft of laughter.

“It doesn’t look like he’s holding a child; it looks like he’s carrying a durian with his bare hands.”

Shang Liwei clapped her hands continuously. “Brilliant! Brilliant! That’s a perfect summary. It really highlights how utterly panicked and at a loss he was.”

“He’s just like that, not very fond of kids,” Zhang Qingyuan said, adopting the tone of an “old married couple,” projecting the illusion to outsiders that the two of them were intimately familiar with each other.

Following the child keyword, Zhang Qingyuan smoothly brought up the mandate of having one child every three years, transitioned to the fact that Ren Zhong could not and did not want to get pregnant, and finally guided the topic to male Alpha greater omentum embryo implantation.

The progression of this conversation was so outrageously smooth it was horrifying.

By the time Ren Zhong finally recovered his wits enough to interrupt them, Shang Liwei was already helping them book an appointment at the research institute for IVF checkups next year.

“Can someone explain to me what exactly is going on here?”

For Ren Zhong, the official language of tonight was definitely “speechless.”
