Calling Him Teacher Lin by Day, Holding His Waist and Calling Him Baby by Night Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Are You Staying Tonight?

Lin Yu looked at the document with a displeased expression, a low-pressure aura radiating from him.

The atmosphere turned icy as the two remained in a stalemate.

Sitting across from them, Zhou Xu’s little heart was pounding wildly.

Lu Zhengming’s personality was truly too wretched; he was actually picking on Brother Lin over and over again!

He had to rescue Brother Lin!

Thinking of this, Zhou Xu quickly opened a document on his computer. With the bashfulness of a new intern, he called out to Lu Zhengming shyly.

“Brother Lu, could you come help me look at this? How do I add a footnote for a reference in Word?”

Lu Zhengming was in the middle of flirting with Lin Yu and was completely displeased at being interrupted.

How could this new intern be so lacking in situational awareness? Didn’t he see him talking to his wife?

Although he was unwilling to leave Lin Yu’s side, he ultimately took into account that Zhou Xu was a junior in Lin Yu’s department.

“Let me see”.

He slowly stood up, left Lin Yu’s workstation, and walked over to Zhou Xu’s computer.

Seeing that he had successfully lured Lu Zhengming away, Zhou Xu let out a long breath in his heart.

He pointed at the reference on the screen and gave a clumsy, honest smile.

“Right here, I don’t know how…”

Lu Zhengming glanced at it carelessly. His fingers clicked the mouse twice with precision, and the words out of his mouth were merciless.

“You don’t even know how to add a simple footnote? How did you graduate from university?”

Zhou Xu rubbed his head sheepishly, giving a couple of silly laughs.

To rescue his favorite Teacher Lin, he was willing to take the hit to his reputation.

Zhou Xu was almost moved to tears by his own actions. What a great spirit of self-sacrifice!

While Lu Zhengming was busy teaching Zhou Xu, the bit of anger in Lin Yu’s heart had long since vanished.

He thought to himself how ridiculous he was; he couldn’t control his emotions the moment he encountered Lu Zhengming.

The other was clearly teasing him on purpose.

Thinking of this, Lin Yu pulled a black ink pen from his pencil case, opened the folder, and briskly signed his name at the bottom of the order list.

By the time Lu Zhengming finished teaching Zhou Xu and stood back up, the black folder was suddenly thrust into his arms by Lin Yu.

“It’s signed. Take it”.

Lin Yu coolly clicked his pen shut and stopped looking at Lu Zhengming.

Lu Zhengming took the document blankly. Opening it, he saw the elegant small-regular script of the name at the bottom.

Signed so quickly?

He closed the folder, feeling a sense of loss, and gave an “Oh”.

Now he really had no excuse to stay in Lin Yu’s office.

Lu Zhengming tucked the black folder under his arm and left at a snail’s pace, looking back every three steps.

Once Lu Zhengming had completely disappeared from sight, Zhou Xu patted his chest and said to Lin Yu:

“That scared me to death, Brother Lin! If he comes to look for trouble again, just give me a look, and I’ll rescue you!”

Lin Yu’s movements paused. Recalling the scene of Zhou Xu intentionally calling Lu Zhengming away just now, he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

“So… you were rescuing me just now?”

Lu Zhengming hadn’t actually done anything to him; was it worth the other person being so nervous?

Zhou Xu looked righteous, believing he had completed a magnificent deed.

From the first day he stepped into Yuying, his mentor had told him that the Math and Chinese Departments were always in a state of competition.

Since ancient times, which was more important—the liberal arts or the sciences—had always been a controversial topic.

Since he had joined the Chinese Department, he had to consciously take up the mantle and firmly hold high the banner of the Chinese language.

He had to support their Grade Group Leader, Lin Yu, and keep any lawless elements from the sciences out.

“Brother Lin, no need to thank me. It’s what I should do!”

Lin Yu: “…”

Youth is truly wonderful, but he didn’t quite understand what the kid was so fired up about.

Evening.

Lin Yu took a taxi, heading to the West City villa as usual.

As soon as he opened the door, a burst of fragrance wafted from the kitchen.

“Baby, come quickly! I’ve made dinner!”

Lu Zhengming left work early; he absolutely wouldn’t work even a minute of overtime for the school.

He had specially made his signature dishes for Lin Yu.

Egg fried rice, tomato and egg soup, and steamed egg custard.

Lu Zhengming pressed Lin Yu into a seat at the dining table and proactively handed him his utensils.

Lin Yu looked at the meager two dishes and one soup in front of him and asked silently, “Is the auntie off today? Or are the eggs in the house about to expire?”

Lu Zhengming’s family was very well-off; he was the type who had been pampered since childhood.

There was usually an auntie at home who regularly cooked and cleaned.

His own culinary skills were worrisome; he could only make simple dishes.

Lu Zhengming took a sip of the tomato and egg soup and swallowed it in a gulp.

“Auntie has something to take care of at home; she took a few days off”.

Lin Yu said no more and picked up his chopsticks to eat the fried rice.

After two bites, he set his chopsticks down. “During this time, I should be the one to cook”.

Lu Zhengming immediately rejected Lin Yu’s suggestion.

“How could that be? You work hard enough during the day; I’ll cook at night!”

He was a “five-good man” who could be considerate of his wife.

Watching Lin Yu busy with this and that at school during the day, even being ordered around by that old thing of a Principal to do extra tasks.

At night, he hoped Lin Yu could just lie down and enjoy himself here.

Lin Yu took another couple of mouthfuls of rice, thinking that continuing like this wasn’t an option.

“Let’s just order takeout…”

Lu Zhengming: “…”

“By the way,” Lin Yu thought of what happened during the day, “The Principal looked for me this afternoon”.

It was within Lu Zhengming’s expectations that Principal Fang would look for Lin Yu. He didn’t show it on his face, feigning ignorance.

“What did he want?”

Lin Yu explained how the Principal asked him to apply for the city-level research project.

Lu Zhengming let out a “Yo” of feigned surprise and teased:

“That’s great. Our baby’s teaching skills have always been beyond doubt. After you get promoted and get a raise, I’ll rely on you to support me”.

Lin Yu stared steadily at Lu Zhengming for a moment, then suddenly asked back:

“Aren’t you going to apply for one?”

He knew Lu Zhengming’s family background; if this man weren’t so unmotivated, there would be one more leadership position in the school.

Lu Zhengming set down his chopsticks and pulled Lin Yu into his arms.

“If I applied, rumors would spread through the school the next day that I was stealing your spot”.

Yuying was like a wall without a single gap; any bit of gossip would spread through the whole school by the next day.

Lin Yu didn’t force Lu Zhengming: “Alright then”.

Lu Zhengming held Lin Yu, his fingertips caressing the man’s narrow waist through his clothes. As was his daily habit, he asked:

“Tonight… are you staying?”

Even though he knew Lin Yu never spent the night at his house, with his heart only set on that broken teacher apartment, Lu Zhengming still asked out of habit, not holding much hope.

Lin Yu tilted his head and thought for a moment, then nodded.

“Sure”.

“Then be careful on the road… eh?”

Lu Zhengming froze, doubting he had heard correctly.

His heart suddenly began to beat like a drum. He asked again uncertainly:

“You’re… staying the night tonight?”

Lin Yu nodded again and said seriously, “The application form has to be submitted tomorrow. My dorm doesn’t have a computer, so I’ll borrow yours”.

The fire of desire that had just ignited in Lu Zhengming’s heart was instantly extinguished.

“Oh…”

He knew it. In Lin Yu’s heart, work came first, and he came second.
