Wake Up, This is Not a Dating Show! Chapter 9.2

Part 2

Ye Nai stared at this sentence for a few seconds. His line of sight slowly moved upward, seeing an “E” in the nickname position that looked like it was used for an eye exam.

And he was the blind man who completely failed to see it.

Why did Yi Xingzhi have to send him a message right at this exact moment?

Ye Nai’s hand speed had never been so fast. He immediately hit recall, but the next message came through anyway.

[E: What did you say?]

Ye Nai wasn’t sure if he had heard it or not, and began to spout nonsense.

[Nyle: Sleep talking.]

“Did I wake you up?” Yi Xingzhi sent over a voice message.

His vocal line was on the lower side, and playing through the earpiece, it was even more deep and magnetic like a cello.

Ye Nai’s left ear went a little numb after listening. He randomly typed a few words.

[Nyle: No, just woke up.]

Good thing Yi Xingzhi didn’t ask further, otherwise he truly wouldn’t know how to cover it up.

Ye Nai originally intended to use the recording studio matter to return a favor, so he wouldn’t have to awkwardly make a special trip just to apologize. Now it seemed this matter would just have to be delayed for now.

The recording for the next episode of Battle of the Defending Champions was two weeks away. During this period, Ye Nai didn’t take on many jobs. He only had one WHOA hip-hop label event in Jinping, performing at a venue, and casually posted a Weibo update after it finished.

For this type of update, the Rational Sisters were still happy to show their support.

Very quickly, Ye Nai noticed that aside from those familiar IDs with die-hard fan badges, the new fans who had recently followed him were also very active, calling for him to arrange a tour soon and perform in their cities.

Seeing comments like these, Ye Nai’s creative passion soared even higher, burying his head in writing songs every day.

Unknowingly, time flew by in a flash. A song had barely taken its initial shape when the day to record the second episode arrived.

When he rushed to the venue, Ye Nai was still a bit dazed, as if the initial stage had only just ended and he had just stepped off the stage.

The official recording time was early in the morning, so all the guests stayed at a hotel uniformly arranged by the production team the night before.

Although the hotel conditions were pretty good, Ye Nai had very high demands for beds when sleeping. Tossing and turning, he only became more and more awake.

He fell asleep quickly after the last recording because he was truly too exhausted, practically fainting into sleep, plus the hotel was picked according to his bed preferences.

This time, he changed into countless sleeping postures in bed, tossing until who-knows-what hour before finally falling into a groggy sleep.

When the alarm rang the next day, Ye Nai couldn’t even open his eyes. He fell asleep several times during makeup, and it wasn’t until the makeup artist shrieked a few times that he barely managed to stop dozing off.

Opening the door and walking out, his morning crankiness spread from his heels all the way to the crown of his head. His entire person was a giant, capitalized “DO NOT MESS WITH ME”.

Pei Ze happened to come out of the adjacent room at this time and was severely startled by his appearance.

“Fuc…” Glancing at the camera, he changed his tune just in time. “Wow, did you go out murdering people last night? Both your eyes are blood-red!”

Ye Nai’s head buzzed from this loud voice. Moreover, it wasn’t like he hadn’t looked in the mirror; the truth was just a few bloodshot veins in his eyes. This guy was exaggerating too much.

“Yeah, I’m killing you next.” He lifted his eyelids and said coldly, “Sleep with one eye open tonight.”

Pei Ze blinked twice and obediently shut his mouth.

However, the quiet didn’t last for more than a few seconds before another wave of noisy clamor erupted in front of them.

A group of people suddenly popped out from who-knows-where. Four or five burly men jammed the corridor completely full, along with several young men and women. Some were holding umbrellas, some portable fans, and some medical kits. Counting them, there were a solid ten people—quite a spectacular scene.

Were these the production team’s staff members?

Just as this question popped up, he saw the center of this group’s attention—Fu Tingyuan. He walked calmly amidst this massive entourage, seemingly feeling absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Pei Ze looked around with a dumbfounded expression. The answer was on the tip of his tongue, but he truly didn’t dare to believe it was real.

Ye Nai originally wanted to find a spot to take another quick nap while people hadn’t all gathered yet. He never expected this corridor to be turned into something more congested than Jinping’s Third Ring Road. His anger flared up instantly!

His mouth moved faster than his brain. “Here for a football match? Why are there no substitutes around?”

Hearing this, Fu Tingyuan stopped his steps, causing the massive swarm of people to all stop as well.

Ye Nai couldn’t brake in time and nearly crashed into them, growing even more furious. “Are you trying to turn the production group into a family enterprise?”

“Sorry, I only negotiated with the production team in advance, I haven’t told you guys yet.” Fu Tingyuan’s tone was gentle, completely mismatching his current grand display. “In my next drama, I’ll be playing a highly extravagant singer. I wanted to take this opportunity to practically experience it and get into the zone.”

Ye Nai: “?”

It seemed like every word was human language, but strung together, it was incomprehensible.

He had indeed heard before that Fu Tingyuan came to Battle of the Defending Champions mainly to immerse himself in an upcoming role, but wasn’t his current behavior far too outrageous?

“You want to act like a diva, so you genuinely play a diva on site?” Pei Ze couldn’t hold back either. “Then if you want to play a murderer, are you going to kill someone to experience it too?”

Ye Nai shot him a glare.

Pei Ze’s tone instantly weakened: “…I wasn’t talking about you.”

“I will try to experience what conditions allow, under the premise of not causing trouble to others,” Fu Tingyuan said calmly. “All expenses for these people are paid by me, so the production team agreed too.”

More than just agreeing, the production team was probably highly welcoming of this kind of topic-generating gimmick, right?

“But you’re causing trouble for me.” Ye Nai’s expression was unfriendly. “You’re blocking my path.”

“One moment.” After saying this in a low voice, Fu Tingyuan turned his head and raised his volume, “Everyone, stand on the right side and clear the pathway.”

In the blink of an eye, ten people uniformly stepped to the right side of the corridor, pressing against the wall.

“Please.” Fu Tingyuan extended his hand to point at the vacated space.

Ye Nai: “…”

Pei Ze: “…”

What an abstract picture; it was so bizarre they couldn’t even muster any anger.

Walking to the gathering spot, the program hadn’t officially started recording yet. Ye Nai took a fancy to a single-person sofa in a corner with no cameras, preparing to lean there and nap for a while.

He originally didn’t expect to fall asleep, but surprisingly, this sofa was incredibly soft. Sitting down felt like sinking into a cloud. Coupled with the fact that he hadn’t slept much last night, drowsiness surged up rapidly right now.

Half asleep and half awake, unsure if it was a dream or reality, Ye Nai heard someone call Yi Xingzhi’s name. His hazy consciousness suddenly began to auto-play the awkward scene etched into his brain—him pulling Yi Xingzhi’s sweater sleeve.

Gradually, he lost control over the imagery. He clearly wanted to pull his hand back, but his hand seemed glued on with superglue, unable to be shaken off no matter what.

In a moment of desperation, he yanked hard, suddenly producing a sense of weightlessness, his entire body tilting to one side.

Crap, I’m falling!

In this split second, his consciousness awoke, but his body was still out of control.

Right before he toppled over, Ye Nai’s shoulder was suddenly supported by someone.

Through the thin fabric of his clothes, he could clearly feel the temperature of the other person’s palm. A burst of clear, cool fragrance enveloped him.

Opening his eyes, the face that had just been playing in his mind was magnified right before him.

The other party’s forearm was tightly gripped by him in a subconscious attempt to balance. Yet, it wasn’t the soft texture of a sweater, but a rather stiff denim jacket.

“Fell asleep?” Yi Xingzhi asked.

Ye Nai let go of his hand, performed a carp kick-up, and abruptly sat up straight.
