Wake Up, This is Not a Dating Show! Chapter 9.1

Chapter 9 Yi-Ye Obscures the Eyes. part 1

So Yi Xingzhi actually liked surfing the internet quite a bit?

Couldn’t tell.

Ye Nai continued scrolling down. Below that was a video of Yi Xingzhi’s solo stage performance posted not long ago. Without overthinking it, he casually dropped a like on this post as well, then clicked into the comment section.

The top rows were all praises from fans, but the further back he scrolled, the more discordant sounds of arguments appeared.

[It’s intolerable to the heavens that this song didn’t get first place! I won’t say who was moved to tears listening to it!]

[Does the internet really have no memory? Even this kind of person has so many people praising him? Have you guys forgotten how he forced out his teammates and abandoned his band so quickly?]

[Can’t we just simply listen to a song? As long as it sounds good, isn’t that enough?]

[What’s the difference between his new song’s style and when he was in Feidu? How does a traitor still have the face to ride on the band’s coattails?]

[He just didn’t want to split the money with his teammates, right? Now he can use Feidu’s name to earn traffic, but all the money goes into his pocket alone.]

[Which of his new songs is weaker than the Feidu era? Taking a step back, the vast majority of Feidu’s hit songs were written by him anyway, I really don’t understand what exactly you’re hating on?]

Good lord, this arguing was on par with the battlefield on his end. Ye Nai got a headache just looking at it. With a backhand left swipe, he exited, returning a piece of peace and quiet to himself.

He hadn’t even cleaned up his own mess yet, he really had no time to meddle in other people’s business.

After recording the program for a whole day, Ye Nai was a bit in a daze. He casually ate something and fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow. When he woke up the next morning, it was already broad daylight, with light shining into the room through the gaps in the curtains.

Maintaining his lying posture, he reached out to grab his phone. Among a pile of work and business-related messages, he found a few casual chats.

[Zac: Look what good stuff I swiped across?]

[Zac: Just a while ago you told me you didn’t know Yi Xingzhi, and in the blink of an eye you’re shipping a CP with him.]

Ye Nai scanned the title of a video from a certain site sent after that, his brow twitching—”[Yi-Ye Obscures the Eyes] I’ll be sad if anyone misses shipping this pair!”

The cover thumbnail was the scene of them bumping fists before Yi Xingzhi went on stage.

It had long since not been the first time Ye Nai saw CP fan edits of himself. Nowadays, as long as you were a living, breathing person, you wouldn’t know when and with whom you’d be dragged into a CP.

He wasn’t surprised, just curious about what kind of interpretation could be made between him and Yi Xingzhi.

The moment he opened the video, he suffered a lightning strike right at the opening.

Ambiguous pink filters, skin-smoothing effects so heavy you couldn’t even see the bridge of their noses, paired with romantic and sweet BGM—it truly mismatched his usual style.

He calmed his mood and continued watching.

The video was edited in chronological order, accompanied by the blogger’s own commentary. Even with a voice changer on, one could still hear the poorly concealed excitement in her tone.

Probably to keep it within their own fandom circle to avoid trouble, all the names used were pseudonyms.

“This is when Brother E just walked into the backstage, talking with the singer champion. You can see it’s his usual polite and aloof state. But—” Her tone took a turn, magnifying the comparison frame. “This is his expression after he approached Coconut Milk to talk. This smile in his eyes, is it still not obvious enough?”

Ye Nai raised an eyebrow. He had to admit, putting them side-by-side, the difference was indeed quite huge.

As a result, in the next scene, he himself became the object of comparison.

“Now let’s look at when Coconut Milk was talking to the idol champion, his attack was maxed out and he used his ultimate point-blank, right?” The blogger placed another frame next to it. “And then this is how he looked after seeing Brother E. Wherever the person walked, his gaze followed, and later he even touched his brow bone.”

“From a psychological perspective, this movement contains elements of feeling shy and not wanting to be seen through. Do I even need to say more about what this means?”

Ye Nai: “?”

What did it mean? Just say it! He was merely harboring guilt, alright!

His patience gradually diminishing, he started dragging the progress bar forward.

“With so many empty seats, you two just had to squeeze together. Do you have something heavily on your minds? You just wanted to stick close, didn’t you?”

He continued skipping.

“Who would take the initiative to offer swapping their own lot with an opponent in this kind of competition? Where are the rules? Where is the system? And where is the marriage venue address?”

Ye Nai: “…”

He exited the video at lightning speed.

Were there actually people who watched this kind of stuff and took it seriously? Ye Nai found it unbelievable. Harboring the thought that there would be many people refuting it in the comment section, he clicked in.

The pinned comment was one the blogger posted later:

[Report—latest news, the two of them followed and liked each other’s posts on Weibo. The key point is! They didn’t follow any other program guests, they only followed each other! (Except for those they already followed before recording the program (Strict face))]

Ye Nai: “?”

He just happened to scroll past it and did it in passing!

He continued scrolling down the comments.

[Yi-Ye Obscures the Eyes: Refers to Yi and Ye. The moment they meet, it’s as if their eyes are blocked by the other, unable to see anything else.]

[The two-way rescue during the pre-match interview has me dizzy from shipping, okay? A domineering wife protecting her husband is truly delicious! Mentioning in passing, Zhuolai continues to act less than human as always.]

[Did anyone notice that before they bumped fists, when the camera cut to the people in the front row, you could see them laughing very happily in the back? Never mind the others, but for these two to laugh like that is way too OOC, right? I’m so curious about what they were chatting about. Is my noble VIP membership not worthy of listening?]

Ye Nai went to search what “OOC” meant. It turned out to mean “Out of Character.”

He closed the window with a complicated mood, deciding to vent his emotions on the person who sent him the video.

[Nyle: Reflect on yourself, why would the algorithm push this kind of stuff to you.]

[Nyle: It’s one thing that you f*cking saw it yourself, but you just had to come torture me?]

The other side was probably free, and replied after a short while.

[Zac: You’re the one who should f*cking reflect on why this kind of stuff could be edited out of you guys.]

[Zac: Plus, what aired was only a small fraction. There are definitely many more things the production team hasn’t released yet.]

Several scenes swiftly flashed through Ye Nai’s mind—him pulling Yi Xingzhi’s sleeve, the thin calluses on Yi Xingzhi’s fingertips, his own retreating fingers.

It seemed he suddenly wasn’t so justified and confident anymore.

The other party was still continuing to send messages.

[Zac: I’m just telling you that you guys already have CP fans, how is that torturing you?]

[Zac: You didn’t click it open and watch it yourself, did you?]

[Nyle: Scram.]

[Nyle: So what if there are CP fans? Anything can be randomly paired up nowadays.]

[Zac: That’s true. After I clicked on this, big data pushed others to me. Your program has quite a few CPs.]

[Zac: But the heat between you two leaves the rest in the dust. This video was just posted last night, and the view count is already over six hundred thousand.]

Ye Nai silently tossed his phone aside and lay back down, just wanting some peace and quiet.

However, the tranquility only lasted a few seconds before the phone buzzed again.

It never ends, does it?

Ye Nai vigorously rubbed his face, grabbed his phone, unlocked it, and pressed the voice message button, bringing it to his mouth—the whole set of actions flowing in one breath.

“Let’s end this topic right here, okay? How they ship this CP has nothing to do with me, no need to notify me anymore!”

Only after sending it did he see that the message sent from above was:

[I have to go out of town next week to record an OST for a drama. I probably won’t be able to go to the recording studio in Jinping for the time being.]
