Wake Up, This is Not a Dating Show! Chapter 10.1
Chapter 10 Hunting Time (Part 1) “Gotta take more care of you…” part 1
This completely woke Ye Nai out of his daze.
Feeling he overreacted, he held his neck and rolled it a couple of times to cover it up: “Yeah, didn’t sleep well last night.”
“Sleep a bit more?” Yi Xingzhi asked.
“Nah.” Ye Nai was about to stand up when he saw him sit down on the other sofa nearby.
Yi Xingzhi cast a glance toward where the director was, turned his head back, and said: “I’ll call you when the shooting starts.”
“Oh.”
Ye Nai didn’t know why he agreed either. By the time he realized it, he had already sunk back into the sofa and closed his eyes.
Were they really that close?
He had clearly only interacted with Yi Xingzhi a handful of times, yet Ye Nai frequently had the illusion that he had known him for many years.
Actually, all his drowsiness was gone now, but Ye Nai was too lazy to move, treating it as resting with his eyes closed to replenish his spirit.
There were no cameras here anyway, so he didn’t have to worry about CP fans taking the opportunity to make a big fuss.
In fact, even if there were, he didn’t care much. This kind of thing wouldn’t cause him any impact anyway, just let those netizens be happy.
After a while, Yi Xingzhi’s assistant, Ayue, walked over. “Brother E, are you still eating…”
Before he finished his sentence, he suddenly went silent.
Ye Nai opened his eyes, only to see Yi Xingzhi holding his index finger vertically in front of his lips, signaling that someone was sleeping nearby, before waving his hand.
Ayue was about to leave when Yi Xingzhi glanced over his way again.
Ye Nai immediately squeezed his eyes shut, and then heard the sound of something being placed on the coffee table.
After resting his eyes for another two minutes, Ye Nai truly lost the mood to continue sleeping and sat up.
“Not sleeping anymore?” Yi Xingzhi looked at him. “Did you eat breakfast?”
“No, don’t have an appetite in the morning.”
Ye Nai was used to skipping breakfast entirely or just eating casually.
“Who knows what time we’ll get to eat our next meal, have some base in your stomach.” Yi Xingzhi pushed the pastries on the table toward him.
It was saved for him? Ye Nai paused.
What Yi Xingzhi said indeed made sense. Recording this kind of variety show, the meal times were probably all over the place. They might even have to complete missions first before they could eat; going in on an empty stomach wasn’t a wise choice.
Ye Nai thanked him, picked up a piece of pastry, and brought it to his mouth.
He had only taken a few bites when he saw his assistant Jiujiu coming to look for him.
“Nyle, are you awake…” Seeing Ye Nai eating, her eyes widened involuntarily. “Don’t you usually not eat breakfast? That’s why I didn’t grab any for you.”
Ye Nai swallowed the food in his mouth and looked up. “What’s the rush? I wasn’t blaming you.”
Although his temper wasn’t the best, he was usually quite polite to the people around him, so these people interacted with him very casually, without any particular fuss.
“Where did you get food?” Jiujiu looked up and only then saw Yi Xingzhi sitting next to him, instantly becoming even more surprised.
Yi Xingzhi nodded at her, serving as a greeting and confirming her guess.
“Thank you, Brother E,” Jiujiu immediately said with great tact. “This is Nyle’s first time participating in this kind of variety show, he doesn’t have much experience. Please take the trouble to take more care of him along the way, Brother E.”
“Okay.” Yi Xingzhi nodded.
Why did it feel like he was being treated like a kid?
“I need people to take care of me?” Ye Nai was a bit displeased and pointed at Yi Xingzhi. “Besides, isn’t it his first time participating in this kind of variety show too?”
Jiujiu let out a few dry laughs and rapidly changed the subject: “Quick, quick, quick, you guys hurry over, the recording is starting soon.”
Ye Nai stood up doubtfully and walked toward the gathering spot with the person beside him.
“How did you know?” Yi Xingzhi suddenly asked.
Ye Nai paused for a second before understanding what he was asking, and spoke truthfully: “I read the guest profiles.”
“Oh,” Yi Xingzhi said mildly, “Good memory.”
Ye Nai paused again, recalling that his particular attention to Yi Xingzhi’s information at the time was primarily because of the guilt in his heart.
Bringing up those matters after so long seemed even more awkward. Thus, he secretly made up his mind to strive to lend Yi Xingzhi a helping hand in today’s program, considering it as compensation.
He originally thought these kinds of reality shows would give the guests a script beforehand, and then they’d just act it out according to the script like actors shooting a scene. Who knew that with the official broadcast fast approaching, they still had no idea what they were doing today until the host started explaining the rules.
“The theme for the second episode is ‘Hunting Time’. The six guests will be divided into two teams, with three people per team. Each person has two sandbags. Completing missions and games in the early stages will grant chances to obtain extra rewards.”
“The start time of ‘Hunting Time’ will be based on the broadcast announcement, and there is only one round. After entering ‘Hunting Time’, throwing a sandbag and hitting an opponent will eliminate them.”
“When only members of one team remain on the field, that team wins, and the victorious team members each receive 1 point. Does everyone have any questions?”
“I have a question.” Ye Nai raised his hand. His eyes weren’t completely open, but the words he spoke were quite shocking. “If I catch a sandbag thrown by someone else, does it count as being hit, or can I use it as my own weapon?”
The host blanked for a moment, and after consulting the director’s team, he said: “Considering the difficulty factor, it’s more reasonable to count it as an added weapon.”
Ye Nai: “Great, I have no more questions.”
“You’re pretty arrogant, aren’t you?” Pei Ze couldn’t help but sigh.
“I didn’t say it was me,” Ye Nai said lazily.
Everyone: “…”
If these words were spoken by someone else, it could still be treated as inquiring about the rules. But coming from Ye Nai’s mouth, it sounded like he was about to unleash a massacre no matter how you sliced it. Especially since his eyes were currently bloodshot, displaying the heavy posture of someone who had killed until their eyes turned red.
Next was the drawing of lots for grouping. The host held six cards with identical backs and had the guests draw.
Ye Nai drew the Red Team, secretly hoping he could be on the same team as Yi Xingzhi to facilitate the completion of his assistance plan.
The good news was, Yi Xingzhi was indeed on the Red Team. The bad news was, so was Pei Ze. The other three were on the Blue Team.
The production team distributed a vest to each guest. The pockets on both sides could be used to carry the sandbags.
The event location was still a distance away from the hotel, requiring them to travel by car. After getting on the vehicle, the six people occupied the front and back rows respectively based on their team division, discussing tactics. A camera was set up pointing at them in front of every seat.
Ye Nai proposed several offensive strategies he had thought of, while Pei Ze sat behind him, occasionally chipping in a few words to supplement.
Yi Xingzhi was in the same row as Ye Nai, separated only by the aisle. He sat turned sideways facing him. With nowhere to place his long legs, one was bent and the other casually extended diagonally to the outside, but he only listened to them quietly without making a sound.
Unsure if it was an illusion or something else, Ye Nai felt that Yi Xingzhi was a bit out of sorts after the grouping.
“What’s wrong? You’ve been quiet this whole time.”
“Hasn’t Brother Xingzhi always been like that?” Pei Ze felt absolutely nothing wrong.
Only then did Ye Nai realize that Yi Xingzhi truly didn’t seem to love talking. He would only exchange a few more words with him; with everyone else, it was basically zero communication unless absolutely necessary.
“Ah, true.”
