After Sharing Senses with the Paranoid CEO, the Infamous Starlet was Forced into Pampering Chapter 16
Chapter 16: I Call This Having Curves
Li Yanzhou merely lifted his eyelids lazily and gave Xia Mu a look.
“You don’t get the final say; listen to the doctor.”
“Oh.”
Xia Mu gave a compliant reply. In truth, even the doctor didn’t get the final say. Whether he was discharged depended on if he had a schedule tomorrow, and even more so on that brutal and unscrupulous Zhu Yunhong.
“Is there anything you want to eat? I’ll have Qin Yu buy some.”
“Anything is fine, I’m not a picky eater.” Xia Mu toyed with the corner of the quilt, looking perfectly harmless.
“Not picky, yet you’re so thin,” Li Yanzhou remarked instinctively.
“I call this having curves!!” Xia Mu protested.
“Mhm. All the meat went to your butt.”
Li Yanzhou nodded in agreement. Seeing Xia Mu about to glare at him, he walked out of the ward with a smile in his eyes.
Outside the ward, Li Yanzhou gave Qin Yu a few instructions and then headed downstairs to a corner of the lobby, where Ren Zhilin was waiting for him.
“I’ve reviewed all the results of Xia Mu’s examinations. There are no major problems.”
“Does that mean there are minor ones?” Li Yanzhou asked.
“Irregular routine. Overworking and staying up late have caused sinus arrhythmia, ventricular premature beats, and insufficient blood supply to the inferior wall…”
“Stop. Speak English.” Li Yanzhou frowned slightly; he didn’t understand these professional medical terms at all.
“To put it simply, Xia Mu can’t stay up late anymore. But given his profession, staying up late to film is normal. He needs to recover slowly. I suspect some of the factors are also caused by his mood. Anyway, since you’re in Sanya and the scenery is nice, and you’ve got nothing better to do, why don’t you take him out to relax?”
“I’ve got nothing better to do? And I have to take him out to relax?”
Li Yanzhou’s face turned cold. He was already swamped with work. To follow Xia Mu here today, he had worked until two or three in the morning last night just to clear a single day in his schedule. And yet Ren Zhilin called him idle?
And now he was being told that not only did he have to take care of Xia Mu, but he also had to worry about his mood?
Ren Zhilin didn’t care what Li Yanzhou was thinking. “If you were raising a cat or a dog, you’d have to consider their feelings, wouldn’t you? Let alone the fact that Xia Mu is a human being and your sweetheart. What’s wrong with putting in a little extra effort?”
“He’s not my sweetheart.”
Li Yanzhou dropped these words and turned to leave.
“Tsk. Keep that mouth of yours hard. When a love rival shows up and you lose Xia Mu, you’ll be the one suffering.” Ren Zhilin glanced at Li Yanzhou’s retreating back, not caring whether the man could hear him or not.
The dinner Qin Yu delivered was very lavish, consisting of local specialties. Xia Mu ate happily, but he didn’t see Li Yan until the meal was finished.
He had thought Li Yan would eat with him, but this was for the best; he didn’t have to look at that oppressive face. Xia Mu was happy to eat two extra bowls of rice.
What was strange, however, was that Zhu Yunhong had never shown up. Xia Mu hadn’t seen him since Li Yan had the security guards throw him out.
Thus, Xia Mu looked at Qin Yu, who was sitting to the side and seemed to be handling business on a tablet. He asked:
“Qin-ge, do you know where my manager went? It’s weird; I haven’t seen him in so long.”
“He probably has things to do. I saw him talking with the EK team when I came in,” Qin Yu said without a change in expression.
“Oh, that old man must be trying to squeeze out some extra benefits. The director at EK must have a saintly temper to be able to talk to him for so long.”
Xia Mu lay back on the hospital bed, staring at the stark white ceiling in a daze.
“It’s so boring. Qin-ge, can I go out for a walk?”
“The doctor said you need quiet rest and observation. President Li isn’t back yet, so I suggest you don’t go out for now.” Qin Yu glanced at Xia Mu, couldn’t help but marvel at how stunning his face was. It was no wonder President Li had been watching him for over ten years.
“My phone is still in that guy surnamed Zhu’s hands. I regret not asking for it back sooner.”
Xia Mu rubbed his face hard with both hands, his frustrated muttering making Qin Yu chuckle. He closed the work interface on his tablet and uninstalled a few apps before handing the device to Xia Mu:
“Here, take this.”
“Huh? Don’t you need to work?” Xia Mu asked curiously.
“A little later is fine.” Qin Yu smiled. Anyway, he had finished today’s work. If the boss wasn’t working, what was wrong with him taking a break?
“Thank you.”
Xia Mu’s lips curved into a smile as he took the tablet. In truth, since he hadn’t had his phone for two days, he had been dying to see if the entries about him on the trending searches had disappeared.
As it turned out, Qin Yu’s tablet didn’t have Weibo on it?! Not just Weibo, but even video-sharing apps were missing?
Seeing Xia Mu flipping through the screen with an increasingly surprised look, Qin Yu knew he was looking for Weibo. It was a good thing he had acted quickly and uninstalled them.
Otherwise, if Li Yanzhou found out, he would certainly be in for it.
At this moment, the heat surrounding Xia Mu on the trending searches had not subsided. Most of the negative searches were bought by rival dramas that had premiered at the same time but flopped. This included several marketing accounts that had taken money to smear him.
As long as the money was right, they could make up anything. Some even posed as former staff members who had worked with Xia Mu, claiming he was late and acted like a diva, making the entire crew wait for him.
Moreover, since the earthquake hadn’t been very severe—aside from a few dilapidated buildings collapsing at the epicenter, there were no casualties—Xia Mu’s claim that time was of the essence and that he had run down without pants for safety seemed even more flimsy.
Furthermore, someone had pointed out that not only was he holding a cat, but he was also carrying a large bag of cat food, canned food, and treats. He had time to grab those for a cat but no time to put on pants?
These remarks, through intentional guidance and fermentation, almost confirmed that Xia Mu had been putting on a show during the earthquake, using a natural disaster to grab attention and doing anything to get famous.
Since that night, the original eight million plus followers on Xia Mu’s account had dropped by nearly seven hundred thousand.
Even the hit drama he was in had deleted his character posters and promotional materials.
Li Yanzhou had instructed Qin Yu in advance to keep Xia Mu away from phones as much as possible, as the slander wasn’t limited to Weibo but was all over video platforms and search engines.
Qin Yu didn’t know what Li Yanzhou was planning. From the incident until now, he had only allowed marketing accounts to clarify that Xia Mu hadn’t “sold himself,” ignoring everything else and allowing the public outcry to continue. Even the comment section of Xia Mu’s Weibo was practically overrun.
Qin Yu felt deeply for Xia Mu, who was still lying on the hospital bed, given this large-scale and widespread defamation and cyberbullying.
But Li Yanzhou hadn’t given the word, and Qin Yu didn’t know his plan. He only knew that the boss wouldn’t allow them to insult and spread rumors about Xia Mu like this. Yet, Qin Yu was also a bit uncertain, because Li Yanzhou had said, “Infamy is still fame.”
But the way it was now for Xia Mu, there was only the infamy and no fame!
Qin Yu stole a glance at Xia Mu, whose expression was as calm as water. In a way, Zhu Yunhong had actually done a good thing by taking Xia Mu’s phone early, so he couldn’t see any of this.
Just as Qin Yu was worrying and feeling sorry for Xia Mu, a cheer suddenly erupted in the ward:
[Unbelievable!]
Well, it seemed he had worried for nothing.
