In the Zerg Race, Didn’t We Agree to Break the Engagement? Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Unavoidable Trouble

“Allowing you to become my Cishi

Mineral Star.

This was a small, abandoned planet on the way to the Central Star, primarily used as a docking point for warships, and occasionally for individual travelers to resupply.

On this uninhabited planet, only robot bugs ran the supply stations. There were a few apartment buildings nearby for resting, which was where Sirius had been staying for the past few days.

Logically, it should have been very quiet, but unexpectedly, it was abnormally noisy.

Sirius had only stayed for three days, yet a total of twenty-one ships had flown over his head one after another, all heading in the same direction. Even Julian, whom he had video-called, remained in a tense state, asking him in a roundabout way if he had changed planets.

His worry wasn’t misplaced. Normally, those who needed to land on such a small planet were mostly those on long journeys—for instance, living in other star systems and stopping here after a long trek to refuel after a long-distance jump.

For so many Zerg to land on such an abandoned small planet at the same time was abnormal no matter how you looked at it. Naturally, he suspected Sirius had changed locations.

Could it be such a coincidence?

Sirius looked up as a red starship streaked across the sky and slowly landed. Four or five Zerg stepped out.

Leading them was a young male with eye-catching pink hair and light blue eyes that darted around. With Sirius’s immense mental power, he could sense that this Zerg’s mental power was slightly weak.

A flawed low-to-mid rank male?

Sirius raised an eyebrow and turned to walk in the opposite direction.

He had a feeling something bad was about to happen. For safety’s sake, it was best to stay far away.

Three tour vehicles were prepared here. Since hardly any Zerg stayed here, Sirius had taken one, driving it to the other side of the planet.

This was a semi-abandoned wasteland with almost no vegetation, but many steep peaks and large pits left after mining. Thus, Sirius didn’t drive very fast.

Although the vehicle could adapt to various terrains, including hills and cliffs, he didn’t need to do that, did he?

Landing on the red soil, Sirius pulled a detector and a small shovel from the vehicle and began today’s work.

Zerg technology was advanced, and with many Zerg and many resources, their welfare was also abundant. Whether it was housing or schooling, everything was free during the growth of females and males.

After reaching adulthood, work wasn’t for money; they received something called contribution points. They could freely choose a suitable job to earn points according to their preferences. Regardless of the job—even if they just wanted to lie around—as long as it was what they wanted, everything counted as a contribution.

Researching the Zerg development process was Sirius’s hobby.

After digging twice, he found an odd-looking stone. He checked its shape against the sun and tossed it into the open-top vehicle, continuing his search for more.

There was a decorative pocket on his work uniform that connected to a small four-dimensional space, but he instinctively didn’t want to put dirt-covered things in his pocket, even if the clothes were dust-proof.

The sun rose higher and higher. Sirius’s clothes maintained a comfortable temperature, but he inevitably felt hungry. He pulled out a table cloth, spread it on the red sand, took out a food converter, and made a few dishes.

He picked up a piece of synthetic steak, but before he could even taste it, his sharp ears brought unpleasant news.

Sirius immediately stood up.

An empty tour vehicle sped toward him, wildly rushing past. It was so fast that even though Sirius had sensed the abnormality ahead of time, he couldn’t completely avoid it and was sprayed with sand.

The anger in Sirius’s heart began to mount.

At the same time, another overloaded tour vehicle carrying four females chased after it, clearly heading straight for him again.

Sirius truly couldn’t take it anymore.

Powerful mental power erupted instantly, and an invisible barrier spread out. The vehicle came to an immediate halt, its four wheels spinning fruitlessly, while the four Zerg tumbled into the dirt, leaving four neat pits.

He almost forgot—the heads of females have the toughest carapace; even if used to smash a planet, they would only feel dizzy for a while.

The four females quickly sat up, rubbing their dazed heads. Before they could even grasp the situation, they saw a male with his arms crossed, looking down at them from above:

“Pushing your luck isn’t a good habit.”

The lead female scrambled up and bowed respectfully:

“A thousand apologies, Excellence! We are on a protection mission, but the male Excellence suddenly drove away. It was an emergency, and we unintentionally collided with you. We are willing to accept any punishment.”

Only males can use mental power, and females can sense it. Sirius had used his mental power so obviously that if they didn’t notice, they would have lived their lives in vain.

They were also unlucky. They likely never imagined in their wildest dreams that a male would be vacationing alone in a place like this, wearing a mining work uniform.

Sirius patted his spotless clothes and slowly scanned their uniforms.

A uniform style, the same insignia, but they weren’t military. They were likely private soldiers of some family.

Just this morning, Sirius had seen them. If he remembered correctly, they were indeed accompanied by a flawed male.

A fleeing male, orderly private soldiers, and Zerg coming and going in a lively mess.

What a mess. Sirius didn’t want to get involved in this business. He pointed at their vehicle, signaling them to go back quickly.

The four females looked at each other, thanked him repeatedly, and ran back to the vehicle. The barrier dissipated, and the tour vehicle instantly shot out. The dust it kicked up was blocked from his side. Sirius rubbed his slightly aching head.

The horsepower of the tour vehicle was too great, and Sirius had deployed the barrier instantly. Plus, he rarely used it normally. So even though Sirius’s mental power was stronger than that of an average male, he couldn’t avoid a bit of lightheadedness.

Though it wasn’t serious, at this point, he really had no mood to dig for stones and prepared to drive back first.

He turned around to look. The tour vehicle had a sand-blocking effect and stayed clean, so it was still usable.

As Sirius put his hand on the handlebars, an incredibly arrogant voice came from behind him, getting closer and closer:

“Hey, you female over there, I have something to discuss with you!”

“You have a chance to strike it rich right now. As long as you’re obedient, I’ll allow you to become my…”

Halfway through, the pink-haired male froze in place. His clear, light blue eyes widened, a look of disbelief on his face as he muttered to himself.

“My… my Cishi…”

By the end, his voice was a bit airy, but Sirius heard every word clearly. He frowned, unable to believe what he had just heard.

Cishi?”

Sirius’s brow furrowed slightly. The pink-haired male’s face suddenly flushed red. He lowered his head and awkwardly traced circles in the dirt with the tip of his shoe.

“If… if you perform well, it’s not impossible for you to become the Cijun…” After speaking, as if afraid Sirius would get cocky, he quickly added, “Of… of course, that’s on the condition that you perform well and make me happy.”

The male was perfectly justified, looking up at Sirius with a dusty face and clothes made of ordinary material. He looked dirty from head to toe, as if he had just crawled out of the dirt.

Sirius didn’t even react for a moment, his eyes fixed on him. Those blue eyes—the cleanest part of him—began to dart around, occasionally stealing a glance at Sirius, but never daring to meet his gaze.

“Ahem, you don’t need to worry too much. Seeing how much you’re looking forward to it, I won’t make things difficult for you. As long as you get me off this planet, I’ll begrudgingly agree to let you compete for my Cijun.”

Looking forward to it? Begrudgingly? Competing?

Sirius laughed in his heart. From the beginning until now, had he shown any signal of agreement?

Since birth, Sirius had been labeled an S-rank male. No female or male had ever spoken to him like this.

Cishi… it was quite something that this male could even say it. He didn’t know if he should say the guy was brave because of ignorance or simply bold.

He shouldn’t have just dismissed those few females so easily out of fear of trouble earlier. If they knew this male wasn’t in the vehicle, this little “pink-hair” would probably have been caught.

“That would be far too begrudging for you. Compared to my needs, I would much rather see your feelings. I can’t do anything that makes you feel begrudged!”

After speaking, Sirius immediately turned to pull the door.

“Hey!” Pink-hair had an automatic reaction. “Don’t be so rigid!”

Pink-hair didn’t sense any malice from Sirius at all. Deeply frustrated by Sirius’s “lack of ambition,” he lunged toward him.

Sirius closed the car door and started the engine. A second before the vehicle took off, Pink-hair lunged and landed right in Sirius’s arms. The vehicle started at that moment, shooting out for several kilometers.

—In order to leave the scene of trouble quickly, Sirius had specifically driven at maximum speed.

He sighed and patted the pink-hair lingering on his lap:

“Alright, I’ll take you wherever you want to go. Can you get off me now?”

The male hummed and crawled forward a bit, tossing the detector and other items Sirius had placed on the side seat aside. Sirius put them back in his pocket.

The pink-haired male glanced at him and pulled in his dangling legs. His upper body moved to the passenger seat, but his legs remained on Sirius, straddling him and clamping his legs firmly in the middle: “You have a record, I can’t trust you.”

Sirius found it a bit funny: “What record do I have?”

“You tell me!”

“You actually tried to abandon me just now.” Pink-hair was furious. “You’re truly beyond saving, so lacking in ambition.”

“I don’t like you, so you should try harder to make me like you. How could you just run away? You were going to leave me here all alone! Do you have leaves in your brain? Or are you just like a low-rank insect, unable to think!”

“…”

The pink-haired male continued to chatter. Looking at his constantly opening and closing lips, Sirius could no longer hear the sound.

He was right. He had indeed run away.

Very lacking in ambition.

Sirius was a bit dazed, his gaze lingering on the corners of the male’s mouth. But the other clearly didn’t know what Sirius was thinking, only noticing him staring, and dodged uncomfortably:

“Wh-what are you looking at? Haven’t you ever seen a male before!”
